What to look for before you choose
Every company says its software is easy and complete. Ignore the claims and check these five things instead — they decide whether the software still fits your hostel a year from now.
1. Who does the setup — you, or them?
Most hostel software is sign-up-yourself: you open an account, type in every room, bed and student, and learn by clicking around. That is fine if you are comfortable with computers. If you are not, a done-for-you setup matters more than any feature list — someone comes to your hostel or guides you step by step, moves your register records across, and stays until the first month's bills are out.
2. The honest total price, not the starting price
Hostel prices are quoted three different ways: per hostel, per branch with paid add-ons, or per bed and per student — and one free plan here earns its money from a commission on your bookings instead. Before you choose, ask one question: with my real number of beds and buildings, what will I pay every month, in full?
3. Fees and mess in one place
A hostel does not run on rent alone. Mess charges, AC and generator costs, admission fees and daily expenses all move through the same office. If the software only keeps a rent ledger, you will still be running a register for everything else. Check that monthly bills, mess and expenses live in the same system.
4. WhatsApp receipts and reminders
Students read WhatsApp, not email. A bill or a polite reminder that lands on WhatsApp gets paid faster than one read out in the office. But not every system sends them — some show dues only inside the software, and one system below charges WhatsApp messages as a paid add-on per branch. Check this before you pay, not after.
5. A real trial with your own residents
A demo video is not a trial. You want days or weeks with the real software and your own students inside it, so you can see the month-end defaulter list the way your warden will see it. Check how long the trial is, whether a card is needed, and what happens to your records when the trial ends.
a month per hostel is HostelsBook's published flat price — one of the clearest prices in this comparison.
commission is what Houstel.pk's free plan takes on bookings that come through its public directory — free is not always free.
Hostel management software in Pakistan: An Honest Comparison, side by side
Every fact in this table comes from that company's own public website, checked in November 2026. Prices change, so confirm the final figure with the company before you pay — and where a website does not state a fact, the table says so plainly.
| Software | Price starts | Free trial | WhatsApp reminders | Setup | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HostelsBook | Rs 3,500/month per hostel | 14 days, no card | Yes — receipts and reminders stated | Sign up yourself online | Owners who want a hostel-only system in Urdu and English |
| SastyBed | Not stated — priced for your hostel after the trial | 7 days, full access | Yes — automated rent reminders stated | Sign up yourself online | Owners who want to test the full system free for a week first |
| Houstel.pk | Free plan (up to 20 bookings); paid from Rs 4,500/month | 30 days on paid plans | Yes — reminders stated | Sign up yourself online | Owners who also want their hostel listed on a public directory |
| PulseHub | PKR 6,000/month per branch | 14 days, no card | Add-on — PKR 2,000/month per branch | Sign up yourself online | Multi-branch operators who compare occupancy and dues across properties |
| Mizenzo | Not stated on their site | Not stated on their site | Not stated on their site | Contact their team to start | Owners who want every bed tracked separately, with its own rent and joining date |
| Rahnivo | One flat monthly price per hostel | 14 days | Yes — included | Yes — done for you in your hostel in Peshawar; guided setup elsewhere | Owners who want fees, mess, expenses and reports in one system, set up for them |

Two honest notes on this table. First, the prices are quoted in different shapes: a per-bed or per-student price grows as your hostel fills, PulseHub charges its WhatsApp messages as a separate per-branch add-on, and Houstel.pk's free plan takes a commission on directory bookings instead of a monthly fee. Second, Rahnivo is our own system, so read our row with the same doubt as every other row — the trial is free, and the quote is fixed before you start.
What a real hostel actually pays
The prices above are starting prices — the lowest figure each company offers. A real working hostel usually needs more than the lowest offer: every bed occupied, reminders going out, and the full set of reports. Here is what that fuller set costs on each company's own published prices, checked on the same day. Where the full set cannot be priced from their site, we say so instead of guessing.
| Software | What a real hostel actually pays |
|---|---|
| HostelsBook | Rs 3,500/month per hostel — all eight modules at that price, with unlimited beds, residents and staff stated on their site. One of the clearest prices in this list. |
| SastyBed | Not published. After the free week, they quote a plan sized to your hostel — a fixed monthly fee, a per-bed rate or a per-student rate. Get the figure for your full hostel in writing before the trial ends. |
| Houstel.pk | Rs 4,500/month on paid plans. The free plan costs no monthly fee but takes 20% commission on bookings made through their directory — cheap while beds are empty, costly once you are full. |
| PulseHub | PKR 6,000/month per branch, and WhatsApp automation is a separate PKR 2,000/month per branch — so PKR 8,000/month per branch for the full working set most hostels will want. |
| Mizenzo | Not stated on their site. No public price or trial length, so ask for the full monthly figure in writing before you move your records across. |
| Rahnivo | The same flat price per hostel every month — every feature included, no per-bed, per-user or add-on charges. A second hostel is one clear added amount, agreed in writing before you start. |
To be fair: per-bed pricing is not a trick. It suits a small hostel that is still filling up, and a commission model costs nothing in a month with no bookings. The point of this view is narrower — compare the price of the full working set, at your real occupancy, before you decide.
Each option, honestly
A real strength and a real limit for each one — including ours. A comparison that only praises one side is an advert, not a guide.
HostelsBook — the clear hostel-only offer
Strength: It is built for hostels and nothing else: beds, admissions, rent, mess, complaints, gate passes and staff in one dashboard, in Urdu and English, at one published flat price per hostel with a 14-day free trial.
Limit: You set it up yourself, and it is hostel-only software — an owner who also runs a shop or another business will still need a second system for that work.
SastyBed — the full free week
Strength: A 7-day trial with every feature unlocked and no card is the most open test in this list. It covers bookings, an occupancy grid, WhatsApp rent reminders, mess menus and monthly reports, and the company says 500 student hostels run on it across Pakistan.
Limit: The price only appears after the trial, and it can be charged per bed or per student — so your bill rises as your hostel fills. Work out the full-hostel figure before you commit.
Houstel.pk — software plus a shop window
Strength: Alongside the management system you get a listing on their public hostel search site, which can bring students to empty beds. The free plan covers small hostels, and paid plans come with a long 30-day trial.
Limit: The free plan caps you at 20 active bookings and takes 20% commission on bookings that arrive through the directory. Paid plans start at Rs 4,500 a month — above several rivals here.
PulseHub — the multi-branch view
Strength: If you run several hostels, its strongest point is comparison: occupancy, collections and outstanding dues side by side across every property, plus a public page for each hostel where students can join a waitlist.
Limit: It carries the highest starting price in this list, and WhatsApp automation — the channel students actually read — is a paid add-on of PKR 2,000 a month for every branch.
Mizenzo — every bed, separately
Strength: The deepest seat-level detail here: a three-seater room becomes 201-A, 201-B and 201-C, each with its own rent and joining date, and its invoices carry the guardian, itemised charges and the previous unpaid balance.
Limit: No price and no trial are stated on their site, so you start with a sales conversation and cannot test the system on your own first. It is also a newer name, with less public history than the others.
Rahnivo — the done-for-you option (ours)
Strength: Fees, mess, expenses, staff and reports in one system at one flat price per hostel: monthly bills go out, late fees and the defaulter list keep themselves, and the month-end profit picture is one screen. Setup is done for you — in your hostel in Peshawar, and guided step by step on WhatsApp elsewhere — and your register records are moved across by us.
Limit: In-person setup is Peshawar; outside Peshawar it is guided on WhatsApp, not a visit. And we are a smaller, younger company than some names on this page — what we offer instead is a fixed quote and a founder you can message directly.
Which hostel management software should you pick?
Match the software to your hostel, not to the loudest claim. Here is our honest answer by hostel type — including the cases where the right answer is not us.
One hostel, happy to set up yourself, want it hostel-only
Start with HostelsBook. A clear flat price, Urdu and English screens, and a 14-day trial make it the natural first test for a single hostel.
You want to test everything free before paying anything
Start with SastyBed's 7-day full-access trial. Just fix your post-trial price in writing during that week, while you still have the choice.
Your beds are empty and you need students to find you
Look at Houstel.pk. The directory listing is the one offer in this list that can bring you residents, not just organise them.
Several hostels, and you compare them every day
Look at PulseHub first — the cross-branch view is its home ground — and budget for the WhatsApp add-on per branch.
A large hostel where every bed has its own rent and joining date
Look at Mizenzo. Seat-level records are its speciality — but get the price in writing, since it is not published.
First time on a computer, and you want it handled
Pick Rahnivo. We set the system up with you, move your register records across, and your whole hostel — fees, mess, expenses and reports — runs in one place at one flat price per hostel. The 14-day trial uses your own hostel's records, so you judge it on your real work, not a video.
Whichever you pick, do the same three things: run the trial with real residents, ask for the full monthly price at your real occupancy in writing, and send one test reminder to your own phone before you commit.

Frequently asked questions
Which hostel software is the cheapest in Pakistan?+
On published prices, Houstel.pk has a free plan — but it takes 20% commission on bookings from its directory, and HostelsBook publishes a flat Rs 3,500 a month per hostel. Rahnivo charges one flat price per hostel, published on our pricing page. The honest answer depends on the full cost: per-bed pricing, per-branch add-ons and commissions change it, so compare the full working set, not the starting figure.
Which one sets everything up for me?+
Rahnivo sets the system up for you — in your hostel in Peshawar, and with guided help on WhatsApp everywhere else in Pakistan. HostelsBook, SastyBed, Houstel.pk and PulseHub are sign-up-yourself services, and Mizenzo starts with a conversation with their team.
Do these systems send fee reminders on WhatsApp?+
HostelsBook, SastyBed, Houstel.pk and Rahnivo state WhatsApp receipts or reminders on their websites. PulseHub sells WhatsApp automation as a separate add-on per branch. On Mizenzo's site we could not find a clear statement about WhatsApp reminders — ask them directly before you pay.
Can I try the software before I pay?+
Yes, most of them let you try first. SastyBed offers 7 days with everything unlocked, HostelsBook and PulseHub offer 14 days, Houstel.pk offers 30 days on its paid plans, and Rahnivo offers 14 days. Mizenzo does not state a trial on their site.
I run more than one hostel. Which one suits me?+
PulseHub is built around comparing branches side by side, but budget PKR 6,000 plus the WhatsApp add-on for each branch. HostelsBook charges per hostel at a flat rate. Rahnivo runs every hostel under one login at one flat price per hostel. Whichever you choose, get the total for all your hostels in writing.
Does the software handle mess charges and expenses, or only rent?+
HostelsBook and Mizenzo both cover mess in their stated features, and Rahnivo keeps fees, mess, expenses and the monthly profit picture in the same system. Some tools here are mainly rent and booking ledgers — if your mess runs on separate registers today, check this point carefully during the trial.
